The love of God perfected in you

1 John 2:3-6 NKJV, “Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”

Genuine love for God and a true relationship with Him must be evidenced by obedience to the commandments He has given us.  The verse above confronts us sharply by declaring that the one who does not keep the commandments is a “liar, and the truth is not in him.”

Ouch!

Following Jesus is a journey, and each person is at a different place. However, all of us are called to this lifestyle of obedience to the Truth. Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life, the only way to the Father.  As you and I keep His commandments, this scripture tells us that God’s love is “perfected” in us.

Do you want the love of God to be perfected in you?  I know I sure do.  The older I get, the more I realize how necessary the love of Christ is for me to live well in the earth.

We are not merely saved for heaven!  We are saved to mirror the Lord Jesus in our daily lives.

Living a godly life is the emphasis of John’s writings. You can be assured that an obedient child of God will become one who is able to love in practical ways as Jesus did.

Are you unsure of how Jesus lived?  I would encourage you to read through the Gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, over and over and over again.  As you do, invite the Holy Spirit to reveal truth to you and I have no doubts that you will continuously learn new things about living as Jesus did.

You are precious to our Father!  I pray over you, that the love of Jesus will abound in you and through you. I also pray that you will be filled with the knowledge of His will for your life in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a way that fully pleases Him, as you are strengthened for every good work He created you for.

May our Faithful Father bless you and keep you as you go out today.

Love well, brother and sisters.
